Greetings from the IEF!

We’re excited to kick off another year of working with the community to accelerate innovation in our schools and bring innovative, experiential programs that transform everyday classroom instruction into engaging moments that spark curiosity and expand learning.

Last year, with your support, we funded the single largest project in IEF history — the Main Street School community playground — in addition to investing $120,000 into projects and programs in our schools.

Our grants…

  • …bring science to life with hands-on labs to teach the magic of magnetism and the physics of sound to 1st and 2nd graders and sailing trip aboard the Clearwater Sloop to immerse 5th graders in Hudson River ecology and conservation.
  • …teach stress management and improve concentration with yoga, mindfulness and meditation for 4th through 12 graders
  • …transform Shakespeare from an 8th grade English requirement into an interactive theatrical experience
  • …expose high school music students to instruction from professional musicians through Brass Master Class and a partnership with the Manhattan School of Music
  • …inspire 9th-12th graders to be self-starters, take risks and explore their passions — whether its creating a local weather website or spearheading student-led symposia on gun violence prevention and gender equality through our Innovation Fund grant program

The IEF relies on the continued generosity of our local Irvington community and parents to ensure that all students are exposed to a rich variety of experiential learning opportunities that augment and strengthen core academic skills and nurture their development.

Thank you for your support! Save the Date – March 23, 2019 for our annual Spring Fundraiser!
