About Us

The Irvington Education Foundation—a not-for-profit 501c tax-exempt organization—is a partnership between the Irvington community and schools. Funds raised by the IEF are disbursed as grants that fund education enrichment programs; provide financial assistance for facilities, equipment, and technology; and encourage the participation of parents and community members. Each year, IEF programs enrich the experience of every student at all four Irvington schools: Dows Lane Elementary School (grades K – 3), Main Street School (grades 4 and 5), Irvington Middle School (grades 6 – 8), and Irvington High School (grades 9 – 12).

The IEF is governed by a volunteer board of directors, which includes the superintendent of schools and representatives from the board of education and the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). The board reviews grant applications and proposals from teachers, administrators, students, and community members and submits its recommendations for funding to the board of education for approval.

Since its inception, in 1996, the Irvington Education Foundation has granted more than $1 million to the school district.
